An abandoned industrial area is transformed into a sports gem with the Padel Zenter
A world-class sports complex has replaced a former abandoned and severely degraded industrial area. The construction of the Padel Zenter in Segrate is an example of how urban regeneration can have a positive impact on people’s lives and on local development. This project combines aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability, serving as a model for other similar initiatives.
A Comprehensive Urban Regeneration Project
The Padel Zenter is a state-of-the-art sports center that has completely transformed the area, attracting padel enthusiasts from all over Italy. The redevelopment involved a large, abandoned industrial area of nearly 30,000 square meters, a site that had become dilapidated and dangerous. But the project, carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Segrate, was not limited to the construction of the sports center. The goal was to restore a green and livable area to the community, integrating the Padel Zenter into the broader context of Centroparco. Thanks to this synergy, it was possible to complete the loop of the bike path surrounding the lake, offering residents a unique opportunity to engage in outdoor activities and enjoy nature.
Architecture that blends into the landscape
The Padel Zenter, in addition to being an urban regeneration project, is also a prestigious venture with international visibility thanks to the involvement of Zlatan Ibrahimović as the principal owner. The Swedish striker’s sports chain has brought its expertise to the creation of a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with 13 padel courts certified for international competitions and covered with the latest generation of synthetic surfacing. The aesthetic design of the Padel Zenter is equally innovative. The entire structure is coated on the exterior with a resin that gives the brand’s colors—black and green—a distinctive sheen. This mirror-like effect creates a captivating interplay of reflections with the lake’s waters, seamlessly integrating the building into the surrounding landscape.
A New Landmark for the City
The redevelopment of the industrial area in Segrate serves as a shining example of how an abandoned site can be transformed into a community landmark. The Padel Zenter is not just a sports center, but a place for people to gather and socialize, offering the opportunity to play a rapidly growing sport while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
